This Stangl bird is number #3456 of this Stangl line of bird figurines. The Stangl Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey made this line of ceramic birds starting in the early 1940s. They produced the majority of these up until the late 1940s when inexpensive, imported figurines saturated the market. After that time, they only made these birds on a very limited basis. |
I believe that this particular bird was made during the prolific period. It stands about 4-1/4" high and has the Stangl mark and logo. It is in excellent condition with the exception of a small chip on the base that can only be seen when the figurine is held upside-down. It can be seen in the scan of the bottom of the item. I have reduced the price to reflect this minor flaw. I am asking $35.00 plus shipping and insurance.
